Oscar-winning actor and pro-Ukrainian activist Sean Pennparticipation in the Ukrainian military film is expected “We are the eyes of animals“.

This is an anthology consisting of nine parts filmed by nine Ukrainian directors. The story tells about the war in Ukraine from the point of view of various animals caught up in the country’s conflict with Russia.

The ninth and final chapter, in which Penn will play, will be directed by renowned Ukrainian creator of The Tribe (2014) Miroslav Shlabospitsky. Penn will play an American sound engineer who witnesses the outbreak of war on February 24, 2022, when Russia invades Ukraine.

“I am very happy to be a part of this film. I am honored to work with an amazing actor, a good man and one of Ukraine’s biggest friends, Sean Penn,” Shlabospitsky said. He added: “He was with us during the attack on February 24 and explores the war and the country in detail in his documentary. His support is invaluable to us.”

Oleg Kokhan, one of the producers, said: “All the stories in our film anthology are based on real events, and it is important for us that artists like Sean Penn not only acknowledge the horrifying reality that we portray, but also express their voices.” He then stressed that “Sean Penn has seen the situation in Ukraine firsthand, so there is no need to convince him of the importance of the issue. She belongs to a select group of stars who wholeheartedly support the causes they believe in and are ready to take action.”

Sean Penn’s documentary “Super Power” premiered in February at the Berlin International Film Festival – Berlinale. The project, which is essentially a chronicle of what happened in Ukraine before and during the war, received mixed reviews.
