The commander of the Ground Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Kyiv army controls only a small part of Bakhmut, but it will be a springboard for returning to the city, according to the Ukrainian army.

The Ukrainian general also stated that his troops are approaching the tactical encirclement of the city and are within artillery range of enemy positions.

What General Oleksandr Syrskyi said about Bakhmut:

“Even though we currently only control a small part of Bakhmut, the importance of its defense remains. This gives us an opportunity to enter the city if the situation changes. And it will definitely happen.

We continue to advance along the flanks in the suburbs of Bakhmut and effectively approach the tactical encirclement of the city.

This will allow us to keep all buildings occupied by the enemy under artillery control and gradually destroy them. This deprives the enemy of control over the approaches to the city and gives us certain tactical advantages.

In the course of working with the command, we analyzed in detail our actions and the procedure for destroying the enemy. Therefore, we continue our defense. The situation is difficult, but under control.”

The Russians congratulate themselves on capturing the city, the Ukrainians say they are lying

The leader of “Wagner” Evgeny Prigozhin has been saying since Saturday that his troops are in complete control of the city, and this idea is rejected by Ukrainians.

On Sunday, Vladimir Putin congratulated Wagner’s mercenaries on the “liberation” of Bakhmut and said that “all those who distinguished themselves in battle will receive medals.”

On Sunday, Zelenskyy emphasized again that Bakhmut is not captured by Russia and that Ukrainian troops remain in the city, but could not reveal more details.

“We are fighting because of the courage of our people, our soldiers. I know clearly what happened in Bakhmut. I cannot share with you the tactical vision of our army. Currently, Bakhmut is not occupied by the Russian Federation. There are not two or three interpretations of these words,” he answered in Japan when asked about this.
