“France has been with you side by side from the very beginning. We will be here until the end,” Macron told Zelensky.

On Saturday, Macron called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s visit to Japan for the G7 summit a “game changer” as they met for talks on the sidelines of the event.

“I think this is a unique opportunity to exchange ideas with many countries of the South and express our situation, express a message and share a vision. I think it can change the game,” Macron said. He added that France will be with Ukraine “until the end.”

The Ukrainian leader’s visit to Japan comes after US President Joe Biden told G7 leaders on Friday that Washington supports joint allied programs to train Ukrainian F-16 fighter pilots as Kyiv seeks to bolster its air power against Russia.

Modi also made clear his support for dialogue and diplomacy to find a way forward, according to a statement on his office’s official Twitter account.

In a post on the Telegram social network, Zelenskyi noted that he conveyed Ukraine’s humanitarian needs and informed Modi about the Ukrainian peace formula and “invited India to join its implementation.”

G7 leaders from the US, Japan, Germany, Britain, France, Italy and Canada are grappling with issues related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and tensions with China, particularly over economic security and Taiwan, an island Beijing claims that belongs to China
