At the same time, the Art Theater is being subsidized with 95,000 euros to build the infrastructure needed to record, document, evaluate, maintain and emergency preserve the collection of pictorial and mostly costumed material produced for the Art Theatre’s performances, with the help of specialized employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. All this valuable material, which makes up a vast and rare collection, is immediately at risk of deterioration, as it is stored in inappropriate storage places.

Lina Mendoni, artistic director of the Artistic Theater Karolos Koun Marianna Kalbaris, the legal representative of the Artistic Theater Kostis Kapelonis and the representative of the board of directors of Kali Kyparissi-Pagulatos performed an autopsy in the building at 7 Dioskuron Street, where the museum is being created.

As Lina Mendoni stated: “It is with great pleasure that we hand over the building at 7 Dioskuron Street to the Art Theater to create the Museum of Karolos Kuhn, the tireless dreamer and creator of the Art Theater, who played a decisive role in shaping the character of the Greek theater. As Marios Ploritis wrote, “Kuhn sought to continue a predominantly Roman tradition, liberated from ancestral upheavals, exotic aesthetics and ethnographic sweetness.” His performances, in addition to introducing new elements to the theatrical art, highlighted the work of important visual artists. Tsaruchis, Moralis, Fotopoulos, Mitaras and many others collaborated with him on sets and costumes, whose work is of great value. Together with the personal belongings of Karolos Kuhn, they will be placed in his museum in Plaka. It will be an elegant space in which the works of the great creator, who made the theater and Greece famous, will be shown and protected.”

He owns and owns, among other things, a collection of visual and mainly costumed material from the performances of the Art Theater, which is a cultural asset of particular artistic value and at the same time an important evidence of the history of modern Greece. theater.
