Yannick Sinner defeated by Francisco Cerundolo at ATP Rome

The eighth seed from the Foro Italico won his first set on a tie-break for a decisive 7-3 victory.

The next two sets belonged to Serundolo, who led them authoritatively and won by the same score against the crowd favorite.

This season, Sinner won the tournament in Montpellier, lost in the semifinals (to Alcaraz) in Indian Wells, played in the final in Miami (lost to Medvedev), and lost in the semifinals (to Rooney) in Monte Carlo.

In the quarterfinals, Francisco Cerundolo will meet the Norwegian Kasper Ruud (4 ATP).
