A video appeared on social networks that showed how quickly the MARS II multiple rocket launcher system, which the Ukrainian military received from Germany, can change its position.

The footage, lasting just over a minute, shows the MARS II launching from the road, covering the embankment, and shows the military vehicle taking off about 45 seconds after the last missile is fired.

Although the start of the attack was not recorded, the MARS II launchers can fire all 12 missiles they are armed with in 60 seconds, according to the German manufacturer, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann armaments. In addition, the footage shows the frequency with which rockets are launched.

This means that the MARS II can launch all of its missiles and change its battle position in less than two minutes after launching an attack, a huge advantage on the battlefield.

The Ukrainians called the MARS II launchers a “nightmare” for the Russian invaders

The Ukrainian army presented these missile launchers received from Germany last November, describing them in a video published by the Ministry of Defense in Kyiv as a “nightmare” for the Russian army.

According to the technical and tactical task, the range of the MARS II systems is 84 kilometers, and their accuracy is plus/minus 7 meters. For comparison, the missiles obtained by the Ukrainians for the HIMARS systems can hit targets at a distance of up to 70 kilometers, although the American launchers themselves have a maximum range of 270 kilometers.

MARS II launchers are modified variants of the American M270 system, they are equipped, among other things, with an advanced fire control system developed by Airbus Defense.

Since the beginning of summer last year, Germany promised to send several such systems to Ukraine from its military warehouses, 5 of which will arrive in Kyiv by September 1. Later, the government led by Olaf Scholz announced that it would continue to supply MARS II launchers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Zelensky thanked Germany for its military support

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi thanked the government in Berlin for its support during a meeting with his counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, on Sunday during his first visit to Germany since the start of the Russian invasion.

“In the most difficult period of Ukraine’s modern history, Germany is proud to be our true friend and reliable ally,” Zelensky wrote in the guest book of the German presidency, adding that “together we will overcome and restore peace in Europe.”

Zelensky also met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his security cabinet before traveling to Aachen in western Germany to receive the prestigious Charlemagne Award for services to Europe.

On Saturday, Scholz’s government announced 2.7 billion euros in new military aid to Ukraine, the largest package of its kind since the start of the Russian invasion.
