Botoşani District Police Inspectorate (IPJ) is purchasing six wooden toilets for rural police stations in the district, writes Botoșaneanul.
The Botosani police are seeking proposals from leading companies for a contract to “procure works for the manufacture and replacement of resin wood toilet units at various locations in the Botosani district”.
The specifications state that as part of the procurement, it is desirable to “make six classic softwood bathrooms, 120 cm x 120 cm x 220 cm in size, not connected to utility networks.” And this means that the old toilets at the end of the yard will be replaced with new ones, but with the same design.
The total amount of the purchase is 9,000 lei and is intended for six rural police stations in Botosani County. “A decision was made to purchase works for the manufacture and replacement of bathrooms made of resinous wood to replace the existing, worn ones,” the order also states.
There are 71 rural police stations in Botosani County and almost all of them have backyard toilets. These are wooden structures not connected to communications and which, especially in summer, emit a pestilential smell, writes Botoșanean.
In January 2021, Interior Minister Lucian Bode said that more than a thousand rural police stations have a toilet in the yard, while another 178 have no bathroom at all. (Photo: ©Hennadiy Buka|Dreamstime.com)
