
Launched in 2004 Mercedes CLS inaugurated a new type of sedan, located in the middle between a coupe and a sedan: “4-door coupe”. The idea was to dust off the outdated sedan segment, give it a sportier and more desirable look in the face of the growing fashion for SUVs: the concept then spread to competitors, as in the case of the Audi A7 Sportback and other BMWs. Since then, the model has been discontinued for three generations (released in 2004, 2010 and 2018), but is no longer successful: a representative of the German brand has just confirmed that end of production CLS was scheduled for August 31, 2023and that the model will not be renewed with the new generation.
Mercedes CLS: the end of the career of the famous 4-door coupe

Mercedes: new models will be launched
Even if Mercedes plans to remove certain models from its catalog, this does not mean the end of new products: indeed, new unreleased models the likes of the Mercedes-Maybach-branded EQS and SL SUVs are soon to follow.
There will also be a 100% electric version of the G-Class called EQG, as well as new electric sports cars based on the AMG EA platform, which is modeled after the Mercedes Vision AMG concept.
Finally, the Mercedes “Mini G-Class” should see the light of day by 2026, and it will be based on the same platform as the next-generation GLA and GLB. It must be equipped with 100% electric motors.
