
The two defendants were given a second time to apologize for their involvement in the August 2012 kidnapping and murder of 26-year-old student Marios Papageorgiou, who they were arrested a few days ago by order of the judicial authorities.
Two accused of premeditated murder and kidnapping with complicity against a 26-year-old student, aged 53 and 54, received from the investigator last Tuesday, May 9, a deadline for apologies today.
However, after he was taken to the bailiff in the morning filed a motion to dismiss the case through their lawyersto be considered by the Misdemeanors Commission. Thus, the defendants received a new term and will appear before the investigator tomorrow at 08:00.
Note that the two defendants are the first arrested in the course of the investigation which was initiated by the authorities against individuals who appeared to be involved in the case of 26-year-old student Marios Papageorgiou, after evidence was presented to the judicial authorities and emerged during the trials of the main accused.
A new judicial investigation into the case was opened by order of the Joint Court of Appeal and mainly concerns nine peopleincluding the family of an alleged mastermind of a criminal scheme sentenced to life and additional years in first and second degree imprisonment.

Marios Papageorgiou, 26, disappeared on 9 August 2012 when he left in his car from Diakofto Achaia, where he was vacationing with his mother, for Aigio. Early on the morning of 10 August, strangers called Mario’s mother and asked her for 620,000 euros as a ransom for the release of her child. A life prisoner was involved, as a family friend at the time, who convinced the mother not to immediately inform the authorities and pledged to take the necessary steps to find the 26-year-old man. However, during the process it became clear that friend, was the “inspirer” of the whole thing.
