Google: What changes does the new AI search model bring?

OUR Google yesterday on Wednesday introduced an updated search tool, which largely includes Artificial intelligence in his responses as the company struggles to refute claims that it is losing ground Microsoftwhich enhanced the Bing language model with the company’s OpenAI technology.

It is noted that Google has already promoted the Bard language model to compete with it. ChatGPTwhich caused a wave of excitement among users with its “human” answers.

When do we use Google and when do we use Bard?

The company says that traditional Google search should continue to be used to search and find information, such as in the case of a product purchase inquiry.

Bard is a chatbot (that is, a “robot” that responds to the user in the form of a conversation) and is intended to be used for purposes such as generating code or writing a caption for a photo.

How does Google search work?

As part of advanced search (called the “Search Generative Experience”), the Google home page still appears and functions like the classic search engine we all know. The difference is in the answers.

If the new Google finds a case where AI can be used to answer a question, the AI-generated answer will appear at the top of the results page with links to relevant websites below, as usual when we ‘google’.

Users will also get access to a new “dialogue” tool, but it won’t respond to the first singular like Bard and ChatGPT.

For example, if someone searches for “weather in San Francisco”, they will be shown the forecast for the next eight days, as always. But finding what to wear in this city based on the weather will yield a big answer coming from artificial intelligence, as seen in a Reuters demo earlier this year.

The answer given on this occasion was: “You must dress […] with a short-sleeved T-shirt and a light sweater or jacket on top. They even included links to articles containing such advice.

Users will also have access to a new “conversational” tool that, like Bard and ChatGPT, remembers the user’s previous questions and can answer subsequent questions more easily.

The company, however, points out that the tool in question is not meant to take the form of a chatbot with a…personality. Instead, its purpose is only for the user to get more targeted results. For example, his responses are never in the first person singular, as is the case with Bard and ChatGPT.

Is the new search format available to users?

Not yet. Users in the US will have access to the Search Generative Experience in the coming weeks via a waiting list, and it will be a test phase during which Google will monitor the quality, speed and cost of search results, the company said.
