Arthas’ prosecutor recently prosecuted his 37-year-old father for manslaughter. Baby who died locked in a car for at least 5 hours.
The father is under guard and under anesthesia at the Arta hospital, the 27-year-old mother of the unfortunate baby is also under anesthesia.
An autopsy is expected to take place tomorrow morning at Ioannina University Hospital to establish the causes of the tragedy that has shaken all of Greece.
Relatives and colleagues of the couple have been in the Arta hospital since the first moment, trying to psychologically support their parents, with whom they cannot yet communicate due to their condition.
According to police sources, the father took responsibility for transporting and disembarking the child in the nursery, but forgot him in the back seat of the car.
At noon, the baby’s mother came out of the nursery and was told there that he had not left. She contacted her 37-year-old husband to find out what happened, and then tragedy unfolded when the child was found unconscious in the car.
In shock, the two parents took the baby to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In particular, according to the President of the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Workers Michalis Giannakos, “at 14.55. two parents arrived at the emergency room of Arthas hospital with a dead 5.5-month-old baby, which the father left in the car.”
The staff – the day shift along with the morning shift who stayed to help – tried to bring him back to life, but to no avail.
According to Mr. Yannakos, parents are in a state of shock in separate safe rooms.
An autopsy was scheduled for the cause of death of the baby, and it was delivered to Ioannina.
