EL.AS employees handcuffed a 44-year-old man. on Tuesday evening (February 5) as a European arrest warrant was issued against him for computer fraud.

In particular, a 44-year-old man detained in El. Venizelos is wanted by the Swiss authorities by the security department of the Athens Airport Police Department as an accused member of a criminal network that has been active in online investment fraud against citizens, mainly in Europe.

With the promise of making big returns in the field of alternative investments, people usually invested small amounts, and said investments made a profit. Then they continued to invest usually larger sums, the income from which could not be realized.

The criminal group allegedly created a Kyiv company that served as a front for a tangled network of offshore companies and bank accounts through which the amounts of money invested by victims on their platforms were transferred.

After the concealment of the origin of money in the above network was achieved, they “laundered” the amounts using cryptocurrencies.

The arrested man was taken to the Appellate Prosecutor of Athens.
