OUR Emma Watson publicly spoke about the reasons that prompted her to take a break from acting.
Actress best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the hit TV seriesHarry Potter‘, she stated that she was ‘not very happy’.
“I felt like I was locked in a cage,” Watson said in a recent interview with the Financial Times. “What made it difficult for me was the fact that I had to “sell” to the public something that I didn’t have much control over. It was very difficult to be the face and representative of things that I was not involved in during the creative process.”
Watson’s last film was Greta Gerwig’s Little Ladies, which was released in 2019.
Over the years, Watson has appeared in films such as The Circle, Beauty and the Beast, and The Shiny Ring. The star said she felt like she “didn’t have a voice,” which upset her.
“I didn’t have an opinion. And I began to realize that I only wanted to do things that I could, for example, say to myself: “yes, I screwed up, it was my decision, I had to do better.”
For now, the actress will continue her hiatus from her acting career, but assures that she will return at some point in the future.
‘I’m happy to wait for the next, right job. I love what I’m doing. And I wouldn’t want to be in robot mode anymore. Does that make sense?’
