Reply to professor of constitutional law, Nikos Alivisato, who stated in an interview that SYRIZA refused to submit a joint memorandum against the Kasidiaris party, the director of the political office of Alexis Tsipras and the candidate in the state vote SYRIZA gave Michalis Kalogiru.
It should be reminded that Mr. Alivisatos, speaking yesterday at SKAI, said that he had taken the initiative to testify in the Areopagus. joint memorandum against the Kasidiaris party of the three main parties i.e. New Democracy, SYRIZA and PASOK. However, according to him, the initiative did not go because of her. failure of SYRIZA participate. In fact, Mr. Alivisatos described Alexis Tsipras’s argument that the memorandum was not presented because SYRIZA did not vote in favor of the amendment as “not far-fetched” as “short-minded”.
In his response, Mr. Kalogiru notes, among other things, that the position of Mr. Alivisatos is surprising, “because his phone call to highlight the idea of a joint memorandum with the ND was made in the days when the government for the third time, changing the competence of the department , and that the vice-president of the Supreme Court, Mr. Tzanerikos, publicly condemned the intervention of the Prime Minister himself and his closest associates, even offering in return.
Mr. Kalogiru’s post in detail
I am impressed by the fact that Prof. Mr. Alivisatos characterizes the attitude of SYRIZA as petty, which did not submit to the Supreme Court a memorandum on the implementation of the amendment, which it did not agree with in Parliament by submitting its own proposal.
This is all the more impressive because his phone call to highlight the idea of a joint memorandum with the ND came during the days when the Government was passing laws for the third time to change the agency’s competence and when the Vice President of the Supreme Court, Mr. Tzanerikos, publicly condemned the interference the prime minister himself and his closest associates with a proposal in return.
The criminal activity of Kasidiaris is obvious, as it is recognized by a court decision. And, of course, SYRIZA-PS will not be able to flush out the institutional far right by undertaking joint institutional initiatives with those who have been watching – and we don’t even know if they continue to do so – political and top government officials.
It is better to wait for the election results while remaining vigilant against the far-right threat. It will then be seen whether a series of legislative tricks and winks weakened or, on the contrary, strengthened the extreme right in the elections.
Until then, let’s not think of institutional seriousness as petty.
The decision of the Supreme Court to “block” the gathering of the Kasidiaris party in the elections on May 21 and at the same time give the “green light” for the participation of the EAN party of Anastasios Kanellopoulos was commented on. constitutional expert Nikos Alivisatos, who also drafted the memorandum presented by PASOK-KINAL to the Supreme Court.
However, his initiative, he said, did not take off as SYRIZA withdrew, as PASOK-KINAL also hinted at in its statement on the Supreme Court’s decision.
Asked about Alexis Tsipras’ argument that his party could not present the memorandum because it did not vote for the amendment in parliament, Mr Alivisatos called him “short-minded.”
