Another impressive infrastructure project, this time the tallest railroad bridgecan now boast India.

Chenap Bridge it was built 359 meters above the water river of the same name in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir.

The bridge is 1,315 meters long and is part of a wider infrastructure project to make the Kashmir Valley accessible to the Indian rail network.

After decades of construction work, the bridge will open to visitors in late December or early 2024, according to the Ministry of Railways.

Connecting Kashmir to the rest of India by rail is expected to boost the region’s industrial and agricultural sectors, according to officials and experts.

“The bridge and larger rail network will be another win for the development of the region,” confirmed Michael Kugelman, director of the Wilson Center’s South Asia Institute.

In addition to the Chenab Bridge, the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla (USBRL) railway line project includes the longest tunnel in the country and Indian Railways’ first cable-stayed bridge.
