President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said in an address to the nation on Monday evening that Ukrainians managed to shoot down 15 Russian missiles last day. He said that for every attack, the Russian occupiers will receive a response, News.ro reports.
- “I started this Monday and the new week with a one-hour meeting with all levels of government and defense. The head of government, ministers, Bureau. Reports were made by the Commander-in-Chief, the chiefs of the Main Directorate of Intelligence and the Foreign Intelligence Service, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine and the secretary of the National Security Council. The first is the consequences of Russian strikes, including missile strikes. Last night alone, from midnight to seven in the morning, we managed to shoot down 15 Russian missiles. But, unfortunately, not all. Not all yet. We are actively working with our partners to make the protection of our sky even more reliable. At the morning meeting, we discussed the likely actions of the enemy in the near future and coordinated our defensive actions. The issue of weapons and ammunition for our soldiers was discussed separately. And also the situation in the still occupied territory and Russia’s countermeasures. No chance for the occupier on our territory! Only destruction for the enemy,” Zelenskyy said.
Zelensky reported that a 14-year-old boy died as a result of an explosion at the school.
- “Chernihiv region, Lyzunivka village, in the north of the region, not far from the state border. There, a Russian aerial bomb destroyed another Ukrainian school… Unfortunately, this strike took the life of a teenager – a boy born in 2009… 14 years old! It was right next to the school. Condolences to family and friends! Pavlograd, Dnipropetrovsk Region Terrorist rockets took the lives of two young people… My condolences to the family! Another 40 people – women, children and men – received medical assistance after receiving wounds and injuries. For each such attack, the Russian occupiers will receive our response. And thanks to all our fighters who make this happen every day and every night. They defend our positions, repulse Russian attacks, help our brothers who are nearby, in positions, destroying the occupier as much as possible. The more Ukrainians support each other, the faster Russian evil will be destroyed. I am grateful to all our partners who see this as a joint task of Ukraine and the world: the clear defeat of the terrorist state and a just peace for Ukraine and all of Europe,” he said.
The head of the Ukrainian state noted that on Monday he discussed with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins.
- “Today we had several meetings regarding our diplomatic activity since May, which brings us closer to such a peace – a just peace, to such a result of this war – the defeat of the occupier. I also had a few phone calls today. I personally thanked Canada and Prime Minister Trudeau for the constant support of our country. We are preparing a long-term defense cooperation program between Ukraine and Canada. This is very important: Canada has already begun confiscating Russian assets. This is a strong example for everyone else in the world. We discussed the pressure of sanctions and our political cooperation. Today I also spoke with the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. Hipkins. I thanked him for his principled position in defense of international law – New Zealand is often among the leaders of sanctions restrictions. I also thanked him for New Zealand’s involvement in training our soldiers. We agreed to work on greater consolidation of the countries of the Pacific region to protect international norms,” he added.
