Casper Ruud defeated by Matteo Arnaldi at ATP Madrid

Ranked 105th in the world, Arnaldi defeated the Norwegian, who reached the final act at Roland Garros and the US Open last year, 6-3, 6-4.

The Italian won the most important victory in his career after an hour and 34 minutes of play.

Having entered the main draw after qualifying, Matteo will defeat Jaume Munard (88 ATP), who took advantage of a rejection from the Dutchman Tallon Grikspoor (the Iberian won the first set on a tie-break) in the third round.

The ATP Mutua Madrid Open takes place from April 25 to May 7 on clay in the Caja Magica complex. It is in the ATP 1000 category, has a total prize money of 7,705,780 euros, and the titular champion is Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.
