Doctors successfully operated on a 24-year-old woman with an ovarian cyst weighing almost 100 kilograms in Poland, reports dpa. The woman postponed going to the doctor because she was afraid.
A fluid-filled cavity formed on one of the woman’s ovaries, the University Clinical Hospital of the city of Rzeszów in the southeast of the country reported on Thursday.
“The removed tumor was approximately one meter in diameter,” said Dr. Anna Bogachyk from the hospital’s gynecology department.
According to the hospital, the woman consulted a doctor a week ago. With a height of 1.58 meters, she weighed 182 kilograms.
Examinations were very difficult, because the patient could not fit on the computer tomography due to the huge circumference of her abdomen.
“As a team of doctors, we didn’t know exactly what we were up against,” said Tomas Kluz, head of the gynecology department.
During surgery, doctors drained approximately one hundred liters of fluid and then removed the cyst. They did not find any other pathological changes in the pelvis and abdominal cavity.
The patient said that she did not go to the doctor earlier because she was afraid. (Agerpress)
