Currently ranked 15th in the WTA rankings, Pliskova claimed on Twitter that she injured her knee in her loss to Iga Suatek in Poland (STUTTGART quarterfinals).

The 2016 US finalist and 2021 Wimbledon finalist hopes to bounce back in time for Rome (May 9-20) and Roland Garros (May 28-June 11). Carolina’s best finish at a Paris Grand Slam was in 2017, when she reached the semifinals.

The WTA Mutua Madrid Open takes place from April 25 to May 7 on clay at the Caja Magica complex. It is in the WTA 1000 category, has a total prize money of US$7,652,174, and the title holder is Ons Jabert. Simona Halep won in 2016 and 2017.
