
Fox News has agreed to pay $787.5 million to an electronic voting machine company it accused of rigging the 2020 presidential election, a lawyer for the company said Tuesday, AFP reported.
“Lies have consequences,” said Justin Nelson, Dominion’s attorney, at a news conference outside the courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware (East).
The deal avoids a lengthy and embarrassing trial for the conservative broadcaster, in which its owner, 92-year-old Rupert Murdoch, could be called to testify.
Dominion Voting Systems, which operated in 28 states during the 2020 election, accused Fox News of repeated defamation after the November 2020 election, which Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden, crediting the thesis of election fraud that was never proven and alleging a role his cars
Fox News has denied that it’s okay to give the floor to the Trump camp.
