Some 380,000 demonstrators protested for a 12th day on Thursday in France against pension reform, according to the Interior Ministry, “more than 1.5 million” for the CGT union, a mobilization that has declined in most of the country’s cities, AFP reported.

The protest marks the third day in a row for both the government and the unions, ahead of the long-awaited decision of the Constitutional Council on the text, which was passed by the executive without a vote in the National Assembly. .

The CGT initially announced in a statement about “over a million” participants, which would be the lowest turnout claimed by the union since the social movement began in mid-January.

At the time, CGT general secretary Sophie Binet gave AFP a new estimate of “more than 1.5 million people” demonstrating across the country.

Official figures (380,000 demonstrators) indicate the second lowest mobilization since the beginning of the movement after Saturday 11 March (368,000).

Union activists stormed the Paris headquarters of LVMH, the French luxury goods giant, on Thursday amid a new wave of protests against pension reforms, Reuters reported.

Paris police say up to 1,000 radicalized protesters have infiltrated the protest front in the capital and have so far made 25 arrests during Thursday’s demonstration.
