Russia and China are in “in-depth secret talks” with Iran about supplying the country with ammonium perchlorate, a chemical used to propel missiles, Politico reported Wednesday.

Supplying Iran with ammonium perchlorate would allow the country to circumvent UN sanctions.

The amount of fuel Iran wants to buy is unknown, according to anonymous diplomats cited by Politico, but they estimate it is enough for “thousands” of missiles.

Some of these missiles could be used to attack Ukraine if the deal is approved, the diplomats added.

Iran has supplied Russia with kamikaze drones, which are used along with missiles, guided bombs and other weapons to attack Ukraine, the Kyiv Independent reports.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian admitted for the first time on November 5 that his country supplied Russia with drones.
