Tempe: Lawyer for victims’ families denounces Hellenic Train’s ‘attempt to ransom relatives’

An attempt to pay off the relatives of her victims and victims Tempe tragedycomplains the lawyer for the families of the victims, Loukas Apostolidis.

In his statement, Mr. Apostolidis, who will visit the Appellate Investigator in Larissa tomorrow at 12 noon to petition for an expedited trial and administration of justice, states:

“Respect for those who died and suffered in the Tempe tragedy requires sensitivity and, above all, humanity. Human life has no exchange value. Pain and grief cannot be redeemed. They are not treated with cynicism. How much more with immorality. As, unfortunately, the HELLENIC TRAIN management does.

In an attempt to hide its responsibility, it resorts to acts and actions aimed at trafficking and bribing the relatives of victims and victims. Its practice is unethical, shameful and highly provocative. He ignores the elementary: death and wounded lives are pain and suffering.

The persistence of memory over time will in no way lead to a denial of responsibility by all those involved in the national tragedy of Tempe.

Natural and moral criminals have names, they are known. They occupied certain positions of responsibility, which they defiantly ignored. Their irresponsibility, their carelessness, their incompetence make them responsible.

The administration of justice is a vital priority. We are all indebted to the dead and wounded. State institutions, and above all the Greek judiciary, as well as the political system as a whole, are called upon to show the necessary sensitivity in order to unconditionally assign blame and punish those responsible. Otherwise, they will also be held responsible for the crime that claimed the lives of 57 of our fellow citizens and caused physical and mental harm to other people.

The young men and women who died constantly remind us of the need to honor their memory, eradicating tolerance, indifference and even oblivion.”
