Immediate investigation into the case of abuse of an elderly couple by Pentelirecorded on video, was ordered by the head of the prosecutor’s office of first instance, Antonis Eleftherianos, on his own initiative.

In the video, an 80-year-old couple is being abused by their son who demands money.

The prosecutor of first instance appointed a preliminary investigation. The investigation will be conducted by prosecutor Maria Caramanoli, focusing on the search for offenses related to the law on domestic violence.

Following the revelation of the outrageous material, the couple’s relatives contacted prosecutors yesterday and reportedly verbally confirmed that the incident captured on video was real.

The incident is said to have occurred in June 2022. Thus, the prosecutor’s office does not have the ability to authorize the arrest of a criminal in the context of self-incrimination.

Finally, the relatives reportedly said that similar incidents had happened in the past and that some of them had been reported to the relevant police department.

To confirm this part of the complaint, the prosecutor searches for complaints and, if any, links them to the case file, which she will prepare for the case.
