Tudor looks to the future with an eye to its past and heritage. The latest addition to the Black Bay collection, the Black Bay 54 is a modern take on Tudor’s first dive watch, created in the 1950s. Of course, it wasn’t the only Black Bay watch to premiere at Watches & Wonders. Geneva. There’s a new Black Bay with a burgundy bezel, several new Black Bay 31/36/39/41 stainless steel variants with a fixed bezel, and the popular Black Bay GMT has an opal white dial that contrasts perfectly with the two-tone blue and red bezel and a wonderful in-house movement. . But the Tudor Royal collection has also been expanded with two new dial colors: chocolate brown and salmon pink. Let’s get to know them better…
Black Bay Burgundy
The latest aesthetic and technological evolution of Tudor’s legendary diving watch, the Black Bay is the third model to feature a new METAS-certified movement, the in-house automatic caliber MT5602-U, equipped with a bi-directional rotor system. What makes the new watch particularly striking is the burgundy bezel, which contrasts perfectly with the slightly curved black dial.
The watch case is made of stainless steel with a diameter of 42 mm and is combined with two types of bracelets, three or five links, as well as an additional elastic strap equipped with the Tudor “T-fit” quick adjustment system. Its price is €4220 (with elastic strap), €4440 (with three-link bracelet) and €4540 (with five-link bracelet).
Black gulf 54
Connoisseurs and collectors will certainly appreciate the restoration of the historically significant Tudor model. The new Black Bay 54 watch is considered to be the most faithful replica of Tudor’s first diving watch, created in 1954. Hence the number 54 in their name. It is housed in a 37mm steel case, exactly the same size as the original model, and retains most, if not all, of its features, bezel, hands, crown, etc.
On the slightly domed black dial, the applied hour markers and characteristic snowflake markers with luminous Super-LumiNova are crystal clear. Hidden inside is the in-house automatic movement MT5400, which provides 70 hours of battery life. Its price is 3,690 euros with a black rubber strap and 3,910 euros with a bracelet.
Black Bay 31/36/39/41
The more mainstream version of the Black Bay received several new models with updated aesthetics and new dial colors. Four different sizes – 31, 36, 39 and 41 mm – are designed for men and women.
Their case and bracelet are made of stainless steel with a satin and polished finish. The newer versions have dials in blue, charcoal gray or champagne beige with large hour markers and snowflake markers, and there are more “washed” versions with eight diamonds on the hour markers.
As for their movements, they are all automatic, produced by Tudor in-house and have a chronometer certificate from the COSC. The smaller 31mm model contains the MT5201 automatic movement, the 36mm model the MT5400, the 39mm model the MT5602, and the larger 41mm model the MT5601 caliber.
As for their prices? €3790 (31mm), €3900 (36mm), €4010 (39mm), €4110 (41mm) for plain versions and €4540 (31mm), €4760 (36mm), €4870 (39mm) ), 4970 euros (41 mm). ) for versions with 8 diamonds on the dial.
Black gulf GMT
Equipped with a central GMT index, which gives the wearer the ability to work in multiple time zones, the Black Bay GMT watch has won its audience due to its practicality and simplicity. In 2023, two new members were added to the series with a white opal domed dial that has been electroplated to create a pleasing contrast with the iconic blue-burgundy 24-hour rotating bezel. At the heart of the watch is a high-quality automatic manufactory movement MT5652 with a COSC chronometer certificate and a 70-hour power reserve.
Like a true diving model, the Black Bay GMT is water resistant to a depth of 200 meters. Pair with a steel 3-link bracelet or a sporty black fabric strap with a burgundy stripe. In terms of pricing, the bracelet model costs 4,390 euros and the strap model costs 4,070 euros.
TUDOR Royal
Tudor’s most affordable sport-chic model, the Royal, has been expanded with a host of new models featuring two new dial colors – chocolate brown and light salmon pink – with Latin numerals or diamond hour markers.
As always, the watches are presented in four diameters, for all wrist sizes: from the smallest 28 and 34 mm to the largest 38 and 41 mm.
All have a slim profile and the Royal collection’s signature embossed steel or yellow gold bezel.
Model prices start at €2,350 for a 28 mm steel model and go up to €4,490 for a 41 mm steel and gold model with 8 diamonds on the dial.
