
The “golden” tasks were carried out by members of the criminal organization who had “expertise” in the field of electronic fraud and had been operating since at least July 2022.
As follows from the report, EL.AS. managed to track them down and arrest 15 people (including 10 gypsies), who, in cooperation with a dozen more persons against whom the case was opened, formed a criminal organization, he worked from at least July 2022 to April 2023 and managed to receive about two million euros.
In particular, gang members communicated with companies, businesses, shops or individuals throughout the territory – they operated in Macedonia, Thessaly, Central Greece, Peloponnese, Crete, Corfu – and under various pretexts (payment of debts or prepayment) as well as by sending messages containing a hyperlink that led to a simulated banking environment, accessing the victims’ electronic bank account and withdrawing funds.
As it became known from the EL.AS investigation, the defendants they committed a total of at least 87 scams against the same number of victims of which received a total of EUR 1,964,865.
During the searches carried out in the houses of the detainees, a pistol of unknown caliber with a magazine and three cartridges, a gas pistol with one cartridge, and a shotgun declared stolen by the TA were found and seized. Marathon, one baton, six cars, one passport, 75 cell phones, 20 laptops, 84 cell phone cards, €8,310, 10 savings books, 38 debit cards, one empty safe, 2 USBs, two VCRs, valuables and proof of money transfer.
