terrorist attack in the Jewish restaurant-synagogue on Ezopou Street in Psirri, they allegedly planned two Pakistani citizens who were arrested Antiterrorist in collaboration with EYP.

The mobile phones confiscated from them were found to be connected to another Pakistani citizen, who allegedly encouraged them to attack the synagogue. According to reports, lives in Iran and was charged with murder. Yesterday, two of those arrested were brought before the prosecutor, who charged them with a criminal offense. They have been given a deadline and are expected to apologize to the investigator on Friday.

The investigation into the case began a few months ago after the information was provided National Intelligence Service from Israeli Mossad. Moreover, the 2021 arrests of Pakistanis in Cyprus and 2022 in Istanbul were preceded by accusations that they were planning attacks on Israeli targets.

It is significant that in October 2021, the Cypriot press reported on the arrest in Paphos of a 27-year-old Pakistani who, in cooperation with an Azerbaijani, planned an assassination attempt on Israeli businessmen in Cyprus.

Information about the existence of a similar core in Greece began to investigate in November 2022, the EMP, contacting members of the country’s Pakistani community, before settling on two main suspects. About a month and a half ago, when the agency staff became convinced of the suspicious role of two specific Pakistani citizens (after processing and their activity on social networks), they reported this to the Department for Combating Terrorism.

The police delivered the foreigners and detained them under the pretext of administrative expulsion. However, their mobile phones were confiscated and a declassification process was initiated. Their connection to a third co-defendant, allegedly in Iran, was then discovered, in which they called for an attack on a synagogue for a reward of 15,000 euros each.

Photographs and videos have been found that confirm that the two have begun to search the area, as well as messages in which they discuss how they will carry out the attack.

Information from police sources they say the original directive was for assault with a weapon. But when the two detainees said they couldn’t take weapons with them, their interlocutor urged them to use a gas cylinder to blow up the synagogue when it was full of people.

Arrests of two took place in Zakynthos and Sparta, but without any finds (explosive weapons, etc.). They have been living in Greece for more than four years. As part of the investigation, more than ten people were brought in, all Pakistani citizens, who, however, were released.

The investigation into this case began a few months ago following information provided to EYP by a foreign body.

Thank you

Last night, Israeli Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement on behalf of the Mossad, noting that the case uncovered in Greece “is a serious matter and was successfully prevented by the Greek security forces.” It was an attempt by Iran to carry out a terrorist act against Israeli and Jewish targets abroad.

After Greece began investigating the suspects, the Mossad provided information revealing its infrastructure, working methods and ties to Iran. The investigation revealed that the infrastructure operating in Greece is part of an extensive Iranian network, operated by Iran and spanning several countries. The Mossad, along with its community partners, is working tirelessly to prevent alleged Iranian attacks around the world.”

Greek officials spoke of signs of a connection between the accused and especially the arrest evader with Al-Quds, the intelligence and operations “directorate” of the so-called Revolutionary Guards. Statements in the case were also made by Greek Citizens Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos.
