PNL Senator Virgil Guran on Tuesday defended his party’s leader, Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke, arguing that he has a “long-service pension” and not a special pension: “For example, in MApN the average pension is 4,000 lei, so we don’t we can talk about a special pension, now it is a subsistence pension.” According to his latest asset declaration, Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke receives a pension of 214,990 lei from the army, which translates to almost 18,000 lei per month.
The PNL senator made these statements at a scandalous meeting of the legal committee, the committee on defense and labor of the Senate, which adopted a report on the adoption of the draft law on special pensions, representatives of the USR accused the government of not allowing him to express his point of view. law.
Senator Virgil Huran argued that military pensions are long-service pensions, not special:
- “I saw a statement related to Prime Minister Chuke. Prime Minister Chuke has a pension for years of service. The EDR is treated as special, because everything is special in the EDR.”
He continued that those who did not serve in the army talk a lot about the army and claimed that the average pension of 4,000 lei in the defense system is “subsistence”.
- “I agree with the contribution, but one thing must be remembered: in the army, in the system of defense, internal affairs, the following principle applies – pensions are assigned from the budget of those institutions, not from the budget of the state insurance.
- Those who have not even served in the army, at least for the last six months, talk a lot about the army (..) I think that it should not be played with, especially in the current conditions, when we understand that the defense system is extremely important for the country. We should treat them with respect.
- For example, in MApN, the average pension is 4,000 lei, so we cannot talk about a special pension, it is currently a subsistence pension,” the liberal parliamentarian also stated.
According to the latest property declaration from last summer, Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke received a service pension of 214,990 lei from the Ministry of Defense in the previous financial year, which translates to almost 18,000 lei per month.
