“White Lotus“, his award-winning television series HBOis expected to travel to Thailand for a third season, according to Variety.
Just as the first two series of Mike White’s episodes were filmed at Four Seasons resorts in Hawaii and Italy, the third is likely to take place at Thailand’s luxury hotels, which are located in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle.
The Four Seasons resorts in Thailand are scattered across the city, countryside, jungle and beaches, giving the show a backdrop against which to tell the story if that country is chosen.
White hinted to viewers that the new episodes could be set in Asia and focus on “death, Eastern religion and spirituality”.
Production on the third season has yet to begin, while sources say White is already in Thailand, visiting various locations that he could use as a backdrop for the plot. As for the actors, the names have not yet been announced, but there are many who will play a role, even a minor one.
The HBO television project was such a hit that many Hollywood stars, including Bette Midler and Hayden Panettiere, have expressed interest in appearing in some, if not all, episodes. Pamela Anderson and Jennifer Aniston have already expressed their desire to play Tanya’s sisters.
The series won a total of 10 Emmy Awards in its first season, including an anthology series and Best Supporting Actress for Jennifer Coolidge, who returned for her second season as Tanya.
Coolidge received the Golden Globe. The series has won two SAG Awards.
