Bra de fer between OSE and Hellenic Train – route crash

In the field of discord between operating environment And Greek train where one blames the other, an attempt to restart it has been developing in recent days Railwayremains unknown if the launcher was routesaccording to what the minister of state in charge of transport and infrastructure announced on March 14, George Herapetritis.

They didn’t happen yesterday commuter bus routes on the line to Kiato, as well as on the routes to Aigios, while train routes in Northern Greece have not yet been launched. At the same time, Hellenic Train’s cargo routes have also been stuck at the starting point for the past few days, and the company has so far operated such a route (Thessaloniki-Eidomeni-Thessaloniki) on the first day of the railway’s opening. , unlike its competitor, Rail Cargo Logistics Goldair, which operates 1-2 commercial routes daily since March 22 (Thessaloniki-Idomeni). Sources of rail logistics they say the company has received a written guarantee for the safety of the infrastructure as well as a timetable from OSE for this and has put the trains on track.

tug of war

Even written instructions for accessing trouble spots on the network are required from an Italian company to get trains on track.

Hellenic Train is asking OSE for additional security guarantees, but in the meantime, according to its representative, it is waiting for written instructions to access network trouble spots in order to strengthen the minimal – for now – routes it operates. On the other hand, OSE says that all necessary steps have been taken to get the trains back on track, emphasizing that “ongoing” efforts are being made to complete lighting and fire safety work in the tunnels. At the same time, he indicates that he sent a letter to Hellenic Train asking him to explain the broken routes. So, the points that are a “splinter” between OSE and Hellenic Train are as follows:

A) Hellenic Train requires safety guarantees mainly in regards to lighting, fire safety and ventilation inside the tunnels, and also advocates for proper guarding of level crossings. EfE, on the contrary, says that additional security measures are being taken and contracts for the creation of all these systems have already been launched, which has not been done for the past 15 years. Among these measures are the passage of one train in the tunnel until the fire safety and lighting are fully installed in them, the obligatory presence of two station chiefs at open stations, the reduction of paths and speed in sections not covered by signaling, etc. , the draft law of the Ministry of Development, submitted to Parliament, includes provisions on accelerating the filling of new positions in the OSB (foremen of stations, technicians, locksmiths), as well as on the possibility of extending fixed-term contracts. on the protection of railway crossings.

b) The work of the GSMR system, which helps to communicate with those on the line, that is, train drivers with station chiefs, “stumbles” in RAS certification. Hellenic Train requires this to be certified before use. Instead, OSE refers to a general handling rule that does not require certification as long as the OSE, which is responsible for their operation, supplies the company’s systems. RAS sources explain that the SAIAESE, which owns the rolling stock, submitted a re-application for the onboard part of the system (equipment placed on trains) on March 20. The Authority states that the maximum period for issuing a certificate is 4 months, but it will try to expedite the procedures. In fact, he proposes that a discussion be held among the parties concerned to find a solution, emphasizing that he will not discourage its use as it “promotes safety”. Rail Cargo Logistics is already using GSMR on the Thessaloniki-Eidomeni section, for example at Thessaloniki – Kastana station, and is using conventional VHF as an alternative.
