The elements that remain to complete the crash investigation are toxicology tests for any detection of alcohol or toxic substances and a mechanical examination of the motorcycle the 66-year-old man was riding.

How did the accident happen?

The officers of the South East Attica 1st Traffic Division, who conducted the preliminary investigation, have a clear idea of ​​how the accident happened based on witness statements, the location of the vehicles involved, and some remote CCTV footage from the area.

The accident occurred at 1:55 pm on Sunday at the 38th kilometer of Athens Souni Avenue, in the direction of Athens, in Lagonisi.

The 66-year-old man was driving his motorcycle in the direction of Sounio. When overtaking, he first crashed into the back of a van moving in oncoming traffic, and then collided head-on with a car also moving in oncoming traffic.

Konstantinos Chrysagis, along with his motorcycle, was thrown a long distance, as a result of which he received a fatal injury, and the driver of the car was also slightly injured. The 66-year-old man was wearing a crash helmet, and the use of seat belts by the other two drivers was not established.

The drivers of the two vehicles involved were charged with manslaughter, as is customary in such cases.

As part of the investigation, in addition to taking a sample from the victim of the accident, the same was done from two other drivers for the possible detection of alcohol and toxic substances.
