Russia will consider “really serious proposals” from Western countries and Ukraine regarding a possible end to the war, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, reports CNN.

“We have repeatedly stated that we are open to truly serious proposals from the West and Ukraine regarding a political and diplomatic solution to the crisis, but the language of ultimatums is unacceptable to us,” Maria Zakharova wrote on Telegram on Saturday.

Zakharova condemned Ukrainian officials, in particular the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, for their reluctance to sit down at the negotiating table.

Zakharova’s comments came after Kuleba tweeted that she had discussed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s 10-point peace formula with Chinese officials.

Zakharova called Zelensky’s ten-point plan “nothing more than a set of ultimatums and demands from Russia that are not related to reality,” and stated that the goal of the proposal is “to achieve Russia’s surrender with the help of the West.”

According to Zakharova, the lifting of sanctions and international recognition of Russia’s announced annexation of Ukrainian territories should be an integral part of the long-term peace plan.

While Ukrainian officials have said they will continue to explore the possibility of peace talks, Zelensky is not considering giving up any Ukrainian land or ending efforts to join NATO and the European Union.

In February, Zelensky told reporters that he would not negotiate with Putin, saying: “He is not the right person. There is no one to talk to.”
