The Ukrainian state concern “Ukroboronprom” on Tuesday announced the start of production of 125-mm shells for its tanks in a NATO member country, reports BBC Russia.
“This is already the second type of ammunition, the production of which has been started by the companies of the concern in close cooperation with NATO countries abroad,” says the message of this association of arms industry companies.
“The first batch of 125-mm shells for T-64, T-72 and T-80 tanks has already been delivered to the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,” the same source notes.
The release also notes that for the first time since independence, Ukraine established its own production of such ammunition, as well as individual types of mines or artillery shells of 122 and 152 mm caliber.
“For security reasons, production has been moved outside the country, but our people are involved in the creation of ammunition: designers, technologists, turners, foundries, etc.,” states Ukroboronprom.
It is this military concern that has developed or is developing several types of Ukrainian-made weapons, including an attack drone with a range of 1,000 kilometers, which, according to him, was successfully tested last December.
Ukroboronprom also plays an important role in the repair of tanks and other Russian military equipment captured by Ukrainian forces.
