Starting today, March 13, ASAP (Army of Smart Plastic Selection), a program of The Institute Foundation, is sending the ASAP Green Week Digital Kit to partner schools across the country. It contains theoretical information about separate collection and recycling, as well as ideas for activities that teachers can do in the classroom with students during this period dedicated to environmental, nature and climate change projects, outside of the regular class or when they want to next .
As such, the ASAP Green Week Kit will reach over 530,000 students from 899 ASAP partner schools across the country and will be distributed digitally via email as soon as possible to participating school representatives. The kit will also be available for download on the ASAP website www.asap-romania.ro in the Resources section, so anyone can access it.
Green, fun and educational activities for students
The ASAP kit includes:
- The ASAP Recycling Guide, with information selected and presented in a way that is easy to teach students in the classroom;
- Boards with games and activities that teachers can use in the classroom with students;
- Instructions for teachers on how to use this kit.
“We decided to make this Green Week kit at the request of ASAP school teachers. Several requests were received from schools in the capital and in the region of Moldova asking for our help in this regard, so we responded positively and were glad that they wanted to offer them green activities this week.
We join this effort to strengthen and expand the ASAP community and support the program’s desire to reach as many young people as possible about segregated collection and its importance to the community.” said Michaela Tutunaru, ASAP program coordinator.
Puzzles and quizzes on the topics of separate collection and recycling or an ASAP-branded imagination exercise on how students see the City of the Future are some of the tasks offered in this kit. After reading, students will know the answers to questions such as: “How many million bags are used worldwide every minute?”, “What types of plastic cannot be recycled?”, “How can we solve the plastic problem?” or “Which country is the biggest polluter?”.
The Green Week program runs from February 27 to June 16, 2023, with each pre-university unit having the opportunity to choose a week during this period to cover content and conduct activities related to climate change and environmental protection within or outside the unit. .
Waste Management: Free Online Courses for Teachers and School Administrators
ASAP Romania has also launched a new series of courses, the first of this year, on waste management for teachers and administrators responsible for waste in schools. The courses are organized for all educational institutions of the country, free of charge, in an online format, and contain 2 modules: one is dedicated to waste management, with an emphasis on good practice in schools, and the second is related to the current legislation on waste management and the obligations of schools during this process. You can register here. At the end of the training, the trainees receive a certificate of participation for a personal portfolio.

About ASAP Romania
ASAP (Army of Smart Plastic Selection) is a social responsibility program that aims to change the behavior of teenagers towards plastic, from use to separate collection and recycling. The goal of ASAP is to actively contribute to the promotion of environmental education among the target audience and to create the largest single infrastructure for the separate collection of waste for recycling in all schools in Romania.
ASAP is a program supported by Lidl Romania that contributes to the goals of the REset Plastic strategy of the Schwarz group, of which the retailer is a part. The REset Plastic strategy includes five areas of action – from avoiding the use of plastic in packaging and rethinking its design, to recycling and greening, to innovation and education in this field.
