Among the architecturally stunning buildings that will join the Athens Open Day this year are the Italian Embassy, ​​the Loverdos Mansion, the Gagosian Gallery, the Zappeion and the Athens Conservatory, among many others, according to reports.

The Open House Day, the tenth edition of which will take place this year on April 1-2, is an international institution for the illumination and promotion of architecture. The idea originated in London in 1992 and has spread to many cities around the world to this day, gaining regular visitors and supporters. The Open House event invites the general public to explore and understand the value of architecture and the built environment.

Every year, for one weekend, public and private buildings open their doors to the public free of charge and the city turns into a large museum, with exhibits of its own buildings and architecture.

Open House Day has been held for 7 years in a row in the city of Athens (April 5-6, 2014, May 16-17, 2015, April 16-17, 2016, April 1-2, 2017, April 1-2, 2018 ., April 6-7, 2019, September 19, 2020) with great response from the general public.

In 2019, the program was attended by 550 volunteers who organized tours of 119 sites, where about 37,000 visits were recorded. In 2020, the event was held online, with recorded tours reaching over 57,000 views.

The 9th Athens Open House took place on April 9 and 10, 2022, drew thousands of attendances and was surrounded by a number of side events, while for the first time the pop-up event traveled outside of Athens, to the city of Chania, in June 2022.

This year’s side events include “Made in Athens”, which includes tours of the city’s creative and production sites, “Open School”, which includes organized visits to creative and production sites, as well as some program buildings that are dedicated to school departments and schools, and others. organized educational groups, “Open Walks” which include additional excursions, an Instagram photo contest, “Open Photo”, “Open Vote” public award, and parties.
