Hellenic Train: news of insufficient driver training is unfounded

“Unreasonable” characterizes Greek train news about insufficient training of drivers after the tragedy in Tempe.

All of its drivers have been trained, psychometrically tested and found fit to work, the company says in a new announcement.

Greek train announcement

Regarding the unfounded news about the lack of training of our drivers and the lack of the necessary certificates, Hellenic Train, determined to protect its employees as well as the company’s reputation, emphasizes that all company drivers have been trained in accordance with applicable law.

All our drivers have successfully passed medical and psychometric tests and have been found fit to work in accordance with the provisions of law 3911/11.

Rage of machinists

And yesterday there were reactions from the train drivers, as there was some kind of witness statement informing me that the driver of the fatal IC62 had health problems.

“Insulting the memory of our deceased colleague and crowing question marks at the end of the ‘news’ headline about his state of health severely offends all of us, just as selective leaking of conversations offends Greek society as a whole. – clearly carved – which “should” be secret. But this does not surprise us. We expect the worst. Tomorrow – unexpectedly – the first official placement of our Association will take place. Good night everybody. I told the machinists from day one to arm themselves with strength and self-control. NOW THEY SEE what I meant,” wrote the president of train drivers Kostas Genidunias in a Facebook post, stressing that his colleague successfully influenced medical examinations.
