Elon Musk wants to build a city 50 km from the capital of the state of Texas, where the employees of his companies can live. The city may be called Snailbrook and will be near the headquarters of SpaceX and Boring companies, the Wall Street Journal writes.
Sources cited by the publication claim that Elon Musk would buy a lot of land near the city of Austin and it is planned that employees of Elon Musk’s companies will live there with reduced rental prices.
The state of Texas has a lot of available land, and when Musk decided to move some companies there, he said that the conditions in Texas are much better than in California, where the taxes are too high and the bureaucracy is the same.
In order for a city to be included as a “county” in Texas, it must have more than 200 residents to be eligible to apply. The motion must be approved by the district judge.
Sources say Musk had several meetings last year to decide what the city would look like, and there were also some small mock-ups.
