
Chania police handcuffed a man who kept relics, bones, priestly ornaments and other religious items in his home.
According to the information, it all happened yesterday Wednesday (8/3) when a 52-year-old man met with a police officer, who introduced himself as a buyer, to sell him some of the “sacred” items, namely a display case that, according to him, contained the relics of saints Roman Catholic Church.
The meeting took place at noon, around 15:00. The officer appeared in front of the 52-year-old and told him he was ready for a deal. The man then handed the police officer seven boxes and suitcases containing a total of 17 bones, which he said were the relics of saints of the Roman Catholic Church.
When handing over the bones, the man was arrested, and during a search of his house, another 19 showcases were found, in which there were relics, bones, parts of bones, images of saints, priestly decorations, a cross and vessels with liquid. Luger firearms and 207 rounds of ammunition were also found.
