HOUR Karpathos is among the most “underrated” destinations in the world for 2023, according to the well-known Time Out website, whose list is also streaming daily mail.

According to the website, an “underrated” destination is defined as a place that is often overlooked by travelers, that doesn’t often appear on travel lists, that doesn’t have many tourists. These are “hidden gems” that are a quiet alternative to popular tourist destinations.

So for Karpathos Time-out claims that knowledgeable Greeks prefer it to the crowds of Santorini and Mykonos. “You’ll be relaxing on several nearly deserted beaches with crystal clear waters frequented by Mediterranean monk seals,” the site notes.

Of particular note is Olympos, “a mountain village that seems frozen in time”, with its traditional costumes, donkeys and taverns.

Meetings within the largest international tourism exhibition ITB 2023 testify to the great interest of journalists, bloggers and other experts in unexplored destinations such as Karpathos, with authentic experiences without the crowds of mass tourists. “It is no coincidence that our island was recently included among the 25 proposed destinations for 2023 in the annual National Geographic list,” said Manolis Paragios, Deputy Mayor for Tourism of Karpathos Municipality, in an interview with APE-MBE.
