The woman, who was carrying a small child, broke open the emergency exit door and walked onto the runway at Otopeni Airport to try to catch up with the Tarom plane, which had already started moving.
Bucharest Airports Company (CNAB) clarified that the incident happened on Sunday when there was “a female passenger of Egyptian origin accompanied by a small child (infant) who did not appear at the boarding gate of flight RO391 to London”.
“Representatives of the airline repeatedly called her through the public address system, and then closed the boarding gate, the plane took off,” reports CNAB, boardingpass.ro reports.
“The passenger then approached the boarding gate, opened the two doors (which also act as an emergency exit and, after being turned off, activates the security alarm) and went down the gangway onto the airport platform. Here she was stopped by employees on the platform and taken away by border guards. Air traffic and ground operations were not affected, and the flight to London left on time,” the quoted source added.
