According to the testimony of a doctor who, along with his colleagues, faced opposition from Georgina in the Karamandan hospital, her trial is ongoing at the Ministry of Defense. Roulas Pispirigou.
Pediatrician Eleni Stogiannidou mentioned a medical incident they were called on in April 2021, hours after they recommended that Georgina be discharged, as no problems were identified. He also testified of the agonizing 50 minutes the doctors spent trying to revive the child, saving his life. However, Georgina, due to low brain oxygenation during this dramatic period, came out injured, as she suffered from paralysis of the lower extremities.
As the witness characteristically said as she approached Georgina’s room, “I saw a dead baby,” emphasizing that the mother did not give an alarming tone when she notified the doctors. The mother came with “a simple knock on the doctor’s door.”
Referring to the moment when the defendants notified them that the pulse oximeter was ringing, the doctor said that Pispirigo did not evoke a sense of urgency in them and that the nurses were the ones who called out when they saw the child.
