
Russian troops used for the first time in Ukraine a new type of guided bomb UPAB-1500B, which would have a warhead of more than one ton and would be designed to hit protected targets from a distance of up to 40 kilometers, it was confirmed. This was announced on Sunday by the spokesman of the Ukrainian Air Force Yuriy Ignat. quoted by The Kyiv Independent.
Speaking live on Public Television, a representative of the Air Force of Ukraine emphasized that it is extremely important for Ukraine to obtain modern fighters such as the F-16 in order to “counteract this threat, protect our cities.”
Defense Express wrote on Saturday that the use of this new type of bomb was first seen a few weeks ago in the Chernihiv region, where remnants of markings corresponding to the UPAB-1500B were found.

According to Defense Express, the UPAB-1500B guided bomb was first presented at an arms exhibition in Russia in 2019.
The bomb will be designed to hit highly protected targets from a distance of up to 40 kilometers, with a 1,100 kilogram warhead that can penetrate concrete.

The total weight of the guided bomb, equipped with inertial and satellite navigation systems, would be 1,525 kilograms and could be launched from fighter jets.
