Ionut Kulea was reported missing by his family after Tuesday’s train tragedy because his relatives knew he had boarded that train.

Ionuts, who spent four years in Greece, went to Athens to take his driving test and returned home to Thessaloniki. On Tuesday night, as he boarded the train, he sent a photo from the carriage to his aunt, the woman who raised him in Braille.

“On the day of the accident, the tragic accident, he was in Athens to give a speech. He texted me, “Mom, I went to the gym.” I called him, talked to him, he was very happy. He took the hall 30 out of 30. He was smart. There was another train before it and he didn’t find a seat in that train. So unlucky! He went to the station to buy a ticket, and before that there were no more seats on that train,” said Gina Todor, Jonuts’s aunt, according to stirilorprotv.ro.

The woman says that her husband worked in construction in Greece. “He was going to come to Romania by car for Easter, and he was going to stay in Greece this year, to retire in Romania to start a family,” Ionutsa’s aunt also said, according to stirilorprotv.ro.
