Netflix is enjoying huge success
The American streaming company announced the order Zero day, a 6-episode thriller series starring Robert De Niro, an actor who frankly needs no introduction. However, it should be noted that this will be the first series in which De Niro will not appear as a “guest star” in his career that spans more than 5 decades.
He will also executive produce the Netflix series, while Leslie Linka Glatter, who previously worked on such series House MD., crazy man or Home. “I am a lifelong fan of Robert De Niro. To have him as a co-producer and star on this series is beyond my wildest dreams,” said Glatter, as quoted by IndieWire.
Information about the upcoming series is very limited at the moment, but we do have the official description from Netflix: “How do we find the truth in a world in crisis that seems to be torn apart by forces beyond our control? And in an age full of conspiracy theories and subterfuges, how many of these forces are the product of our own actions, perhaps even our imaginations?” Unfortunately, the description does not say much.
On Monday, Netflix announced that it has convinced Arnold Schwarzenegger to star in another series. Both are Hollywood legends long past their prime, but it looks like Netflix will now try to bank on the nostalgia factor after losing the likes of Henry Cavill and Mike Flanagan to rival Amazon, which is throwing huge sums into the streaming market. transmission

Season 4 of The Mandalorian is already written
Moving from the upcoming series to the present, Jon Favreau, co-creator of The Mandalorian, revealed in interview told BFM TV that season 4 is already written, although the third started this Wednesday: “We need to know where we’re going to tell a fully formed story, so we’ve planned it, me and [co-creatorul] dave [Filoni]and then you slowly write each episode.”
The upcoming season was written while the third was in post-production because “everything has to come out as a sequel and a whole separate story.” Favreau also explained that he and Filoni need to know in advance what will happen next Mandalorian in the following episodes to be able to plan what will happen in the spin-off series Bobba Fett’s book and Ashoka.
In addition, the series Skeleton CrewStarring Jude Law, the film is set in the same time period in the Star Wars universe. As we announced in the Nerd Alert column at the end of January, the shooting of this fourth series star Warshave been completed, but Disney has yet to announce a premiere date. However, it will be released on the Disney+ platform this year.
Elon Musk’s satellites are creating problems in space
The Hubble Space Telescope is already being eclipsed by its much more powerful successor, the James Webb, and now researchers indicate in a new study published in the journal Nature Astronomy that it is increasingly struggling due to the crowded orbit of satellites, the number of which has increased dramatically since NASA launched the telescope in 1990.
“We will have to live with this problem. And astronomy will suffer. There will be science that cannot be done. There will be science, which will be much more expensive to do. There will be things we will miss,” Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics who was not involved in the study, told the New York Times.
The problem is that satellites fall into Hubble’s field of view when it takes pictures, compromising them. Researchers show that between 2009 and 2020, the probability of a satellite appearing in a Hubble image was 3.7%. But in 2021, in just one year, it suddenly increased to 5.9%. The culprit, of course, is Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet network.
The researchers completed their observations two years ago, but published the results of the study only now, with a large amount of data to analyze. Meanwhile, the number of satellites put into orbit by SpaceX has increased by more than 100% to more than 3,500. Musk was once asked about the problem and he suggested that telescopes simply move into space.
Of course, SpaceX is not the only one creating such a situation, but it is certainly the company with the most satellites in orbit. And in the case of the Hubble Space Telescope, it is already in space. The authors of the study estimated that by 2030 the number of satellites orbiting our planet could increase to 100,000, and SpaceX alone wants to reach 42,000.

We have an idea of what The Haunted Mansion will look like.
Staying a little at Disney, but moving from series to movies, the American company released the first trailer of the movie a few days ago Haunted mansion, his latest feature film, inspired by one of the world-famous theme parks of the same name. The story will revolve around a mother who moves into a mansion with her son only to discover that it is, you guessed it, haunted.
While I can’t say I’m a huge fan, the idea of making a movie based on a theme park attraction is always interesting, and you can never be sure what’s going to happen. Plus, it’s not every day you see a family comedy with names like Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Jared Leto, and Jamie Lee Curtis, Gizmodo notes.
It’s basically another attempt by Disney to make a splash with a theme park-inspired movie after the huge success of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise that, yes, started it all. Haunted mansion will be released in US theaters on July 28. In Romania, we still haven’t found an official release date, but most likely it will be broadcast on Disney+ on Halloween.
“Star Trek: Discovery” has come to an end
On Friday, Paramount+ announced a series that practically revived the television franchise star trek in 2017 will conclude with the release of the final episode of Season 5 early next year. The studio also announced in a press release that it plans to hold events for fans around the world before that (probably a pale consolation for most).
I’m going to skip over all the “exciting” statements made by the show’s producers and its cast in honor of the announcement, just to remind you that Discovery was instrumental in ushering in a new golden age for the franchise star trekwith a series of similar ones Picard, Brave new worlds, Lower decks, Prodigy and others, which IGN also mentions.
The good news would be that many of them (Picard no) they will continue again Brave new worldswhich is basically a spin-off inspired Discovery, can now be seen in Romania on the SkyShowtime platform, which also appeared here last month. The same goes for some series and movies star trek originals, but not for newer ones like Discovery. Why, I cannot tell you.
Papuans kidnapped a group of archaeologists
Australian researchers say fieldwork and international research collaborations in Papa New Guinea are at risk after four members of an archaeological expedition were kidnapped in the country’s highlands. They were later released, but academics say the incident is a wake-up call for universities.
Four researchers, three from Papua New Guinea and a New Zealander living in Australia, were taken hostage by armed bandits in mid-February during an archaeological dig. After a series of difficult negotiations involving police, security services and government officials from Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand, one of them was released on 22 February.
The other three were released a few days later. Bandits known for armed attacks and robberies in surrounding villages have reportedly been active in the area for some time. The highlands of Papua New Guinea are notorious for violence and social unrest, and many countries have issued travel warnings to the area.
Australia, for example, is warning its citizens to exercise “a high degree of caution” when traveling to Papua New Guinea and to reconsider plans to visit certain regions of the country, including mountainous areas. Despite being a remote corner of the world, the island nation is an important location for research in many fields, including archaeology, paleontology, geology and life sciences.
Several scientists from different fields and countries have already told Nature that the abduction has caused them to postpone or change their plans to travel here for field research, with the journal citing that they are at risk because of the incident. So look, the work of an archaeologist can sometimes be like real life Indiana Jones.

“Minecraft 1.20” finally has a name
The latest update to the video game, which became a global phenomenon after its release more than a decade ago, now also has a name to indicate some of the new things it will bring, which were previously announced in the magical Sniffer in the Cherry Blossom biome: Trails and tales.
The announcement was made during an episode of “Minecraft Monthly,” a new podcast created by Mojang Studios, a Swedish game studio that minecraft, to keep fans updated with the latest news about him. Tracks and tails will bring, among many others, a variety of new bricks and the ability to discover ancient ruins in the sands with the brush tool.
Mojang has yet to announce a release date for the update, but according to Twinfinite, gamers can test the new features in betas and previews already available. I might need a separate article to introduce all the new features it will bring Tracks and tailsso better watch Mojang’s presentation if you’re interested:
I know, the guy doing the presentations is extremely annoying.
