The return of Romanian to the status of an official language in the Republic of Moldova is a historical norm and should happen as soon as possible, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Čolaku, said on Wednesday evening in a post on the Facebook website, after a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Recan.
Phrases such as “state language”, “official language” or “mother tongue” are anomalies, Çolaku also stated.
“I congratulated Prime Minister Dorin Recan today for supporting the initiative to return the Romanian language to all official documents of the Republic of Moldova, including the Constitution,” Marcel Ciolacu wrote on Facebook.
He also noted that he conveyed the results of his recent visit to Azerbaijan to the Prime Minister of Moldova.
“We will provide part of the gas consumption needs for the Republic of Moldova through the contract for the import of Azerbaijani gas. In addition, I want that at the level of the parliament we quickly create a subcommittee to help the authorities in Chisinau with the transfer of legislation in accordance with European standards,” Çolaku said.
“Our common goal remains the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European Union, and the authorities in Bucharest will support, without reservations and with all expertise, the government and administration in Chisinau,” he emphasized.
