Buckingham Palace has issued an “eviction notice” to the couple, who launched attacks on the monarchy after leaving Britain in 2020, according to The Sun and The Telegraph.

Frogmore Cottage, a five-bedroom residence near Windsor Castle in west London, was given to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by Queen Elizabeth II in 2018 as a wedding gift.

The couple’s more than €2 million taxpayer-funded renovations were shocking and Prince Harry had to pay for them when he left Meghan Markle in the US.

According to The Sun, Charles III would not offer the couple a new residence, thus depriving them of any royal address during their rare trips to the UK, a decision that sounds like punishment following Harry’s publication of his book, The Reserve, in early January. in which he violently attacks his family.

He also spoke about an alleged violent row with his older brother William, the heir to the throne, over Meghan and accused Queen Consort Camilla of leaking private conversations to the press.

Scandals continue in the royal family of Great Britain

AFP notes that King Charles’ decision risks exacerbating conflicts within the institution, and the couple is already challenging the cancellation of special police protection in court.

Two months before the coronation of Charles III, the question of the presence of Harry and Meghan at the ceremony has not yet been officially resolved, even if some media claim that they have been invited.

According to The Sun, the king asked Prince Andrew to live at Frogmore Cottage to keep costs down for his younger brother, who currently resides at the luxury Royal Lodge property in Windsor.

Andrew fell into disgrace after accusations of sexual harassment and his friendship with American financier Jeffrey Epstein, convicted of sexual abuse of minors. According to British media, the king will consider canceling his annual allowance of 250,000 pounds (about 283,000 euros).

Buckingham Palace, contacted by AFP, declined to comment on the report.
