According to the American news agency The Associated Press, the publishers said that the reason for the lack of details about the content is that many fans of Murakami said they prefer to start reading without knowing what the book is about.
Thus, it remains unknown if the new novel is related to a 1980 Japanese author’s short story of the same name, which was published in a literary magazine but never published in book form.
This is Murakami’s first novel since the February 2017 release of Kill the Commander (Kishidancho Goroshi).
