The attempted theft, which eventually ended in a fiasco, took place yesterday Sunday at a jewelry store on Rīga Feraio Street in Patras.
According to EL.AS, everything happened in the afternoon, when the intruder climbed into the specified store from the back of the ceramic roof on an aluminum ladder. He removed several tiles and with a sharp object made a hole in the internal false ceiling, through which he entered the room.
With quick movements, he emptied the windows, taking 109 watches, 7 watch straps and a pen worth 150,000 euros. But he did not stop there, as he also took chains, earrings, rings and necklaces made of precious metals, the value of which has not yet been established.
However, during his action, an alarm went off, and employees of a security company rushed to the scene, who noticed him at the time of his escape. Although, reportedly, they tried to immobilize him, they did not succeed, but they were able to take the backpack in which he put the stolen goods, as a result of which the criminal left with nothing.
Everything in the backpack was attributed to the 53-year-old owner, and a criminal case was opened against the perpetrator, who is wanted by the Patras Subdivision of Security for aggravated theft.
