
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed his intention to return the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014, DPA and Agerpres report.
“This is our land. Our people. Our history,” Zelenskyy said in a statement released on Sunday.
By returning Crimea, peace will be established in Ukraine, he added.
“We will return the Ukrainian flag to all corners of Ukraine,” the head of state promised.
On February 26, 2020, Zelensky announced the Day of Resistance to the Russian Occupation of Crimea. In 2014, before the annexation of the peninsula by Russia, on February 26, a large demonstration took place in front of the regional parliament in Simferopol, during which several people died.
Russian aggression in Crimea began 9 years ago. By returning Crimea, we will restore peace.
