An “explosion” of fun and excitement caused the beginning of a big carnival parade in Patraswith thousands of visitors flooding the sidewalks, Georgiou Square and the balconies of downtown apartment buildings.

After three years of “absence” due to the precautionary measures taken to protect against Covid-19, the great carnival parade has become a fact when the whole city celebrates and sends messages of joy, hope and optimism.

The parade began under good weather conditions shortly after 2pm, with the Patreon Municipality Band playing carnival rhythms, followed by chocolatiers and cheerleaders.

Immediately after this, the drummer-herald of the carnival king appeared with his tambourine, and then the majestic and impressive float of the colorful carnival king, the queen of the father’s carnival of 2023, Katerina Veneri-Siuli with the dove of peace and the flower float with the queen of the three previous events where there was no parade. Then came the carnival workshop of the municipality of Patreon, “Imagine”, “Hell Oil”, “Facebook” and “Rabbit Test Show”, which combine artistic expressiveness and satirical mood, and two musical carts also gave their own carnival rhythm, behind which carnival floats of the smallest follow.

Then the baton is taken over by more than 50,000 carnivalists with inexhaustible supplies of fun and joy, which are the “soul” of the father’s carnival. Colorful costumes, humor, originality, a satirical spirit, refined aesthetics, original hats and impressive accessories combine with a colorful palette of inventive events and carnival designs, presenting a vivid and unique spectacle.

The long parade is expected to end with the traditional custom of throwing chocolate.
